As one of four heroes, you must battle the minions of the old ones with the force of arms, and the power of illumination. Monstrous hordes emerge from beyond the realm of nightmares to sow chaos on the land. The very few sound effects that do exist are limp and overly quiet, which might have been excusable in an Early Access release but this is billed as a finished game with a relatively hefty price tag.A darkness has fallen over the town of Lorwich. The game is filled with bugs, from enemies that move and attack through walls to a bizarre lack of almost any sound or music.
Illumination commits three cardinal sins: it’s incredibly boring, it’s incredibly unfair, and it’s patently unfinished. Although the artificial intelligence is bad enough that thankfully they usually seem as surprised as you are. They do have a nasty habit of spawning completely at random though, and will often appear beside you with no warning. That’s something you would’ve thought a creature allergic to light would go out of their way to avoid, but they all blunder into danger as if they’re trying to commit the video game equivalent of suicide by cop. Although everyone’s got a torch it’s useless in combat and so you just have to hope a monster wanders into a light source so you can shoot them.
